Mapping Water Issues in Africa : Using Community Mapping To Change The World ::

Mapping Water Issues in Africa

OUR GOAL

As a group of students with backgrounds from Rutgers University Bloustein Planning School and Geography Department, we are striving to find ways to help global communities using our GIS and community mapping skills.

Water supply and demand is a looming issue today, as climate patterns change globally, the stress of drought and water accessibility becomes increasingly acute in countries that are already vulnerable to water shortages. Unfortunately the issue of water supply is not as simple as measuring average rainfall. Pollution, politics, and privatization also play a role in affecting the health of our children.

Using the work of organizations such as Childfund to ground our work in NGO and international aid, we aim to map the demands, problems, progress and regression of African countries, in an attempt to educate the public and raise awareness of active aid networks about which regions are in most need of help.
